The Waverton Good Reads Award has longlisted books by 6 members of the Prime Writers for its annual award!
The people of Waverton, a village outside Chester with a population of around 2000, read fifty or more debut novels each year and pick their favourite. Nominations are first adult novels written by British citizens and published in the previous twelve months. The aim is not only to stimulate reading in the village but also to provide encouragement to British writers.
Our longlisted authors and their books are:

Clare Fuller ‘Our Endless Numbered Days’ ( Fig Tree, Penguin)
Kate Hamer ‘The Girl in the Red Coat’ (Faber and Faber)
Fionnuala Kearney ‘You, Me and Other People’ (Harper)
Alison Layland ‘Someone Else’s Conflict’ (Honno)
The short list will be announced at the meeting on 21st March 2016.
Previous winners have included Mark Haddon –’The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’, Marina Lewycka – ‘A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian’, and Rachel Joyce – ‘The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry’.
