If Paradise is a kind of library, then Peggy Riley, author of Amity & Sorrow, finds hers at the Wellcome Collection in London.
My favourite library is on the second floor of The Wellcome Collection, down the corridor from their exquisite Reading Rooms. Founded on Henry Wellcome’s collection, the Wellcome Library is filled with rare books and materials on the history of medicine. For research on Book 2, I found a number of truly chilling artefacts of early eugenics – German and British. It is a lovely, quiet place to write and to learn.
