The children of SD Sykes, author of Plague Land and The Butcher Bird, found more adventures than she bargained for in North Watford library:
I can laugh about this now… sort of. I used to take my kids to North Watford library, every week for story time. Natalie (3) was listening avidly. It was a lovely break.
I was exhausted by sleepless nights and must have nodded off a bit. What I didn’t notice was that Adam (1) had crawled out of the children’s section, through the main library, and was only stopped by a confused passer-by as he headed out of the swinging doors in the direction of the A41. Bad mother or what?
