Inspired by the idea behind so few words being capable of saying so much, we Prime Writers will be sharing some pieces of flash fiction with you throughout April. Our aim: to tell a story with only fifty words. To those of you who have never attempted it, do give it a go! It’s a fabulous way to flex those writing muscles and also a great way to hone editing skills. First up, is Karin Salvalaggio, with ‘April’s August’ which comes in at an impressive forty nine words including the title!
A late spring snowstorm swept away alpine blooms and all hope of finding a way home. Deaf to warnings she’d tossed into the wind, April’s friends had strayed too close to the cliffs. Alone, she sheltered beneath a ledge. When sleep finally came, she dreamed of August.
