Today’s sad flash fiction comes from the lovely Louise Beech…


Thump, thump, thump.  I’m Natalie’s heart.  Crimson, I beat a while.  Not long enough to meet you.  Not strong enough for a cerise crib.  Not big enough for breath.  Pencilled in for October, I met the springtime daffodils.  I’m Natalie’s heart.  I beat now where it’s white. Thump, thump, thump.
