Biography:
I grew up in Bradford, and lived in various parts of the UK before moving to mid-Wales in 1997, where I live with my husband and two teenage children. I studied Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Cambridge University and, after a brief spell as a taxi driver, worked for several years as a Chartered Surveyor before returning to my first love, languages, to become a freelance translator in 1994. I was Welsh Learner of the Year in 1999, and in 2002 won the short story competition at the National Eisteddfod. Several of my translations from French and German into English of novels and non-fiction titles have been published to date.
My debut novel Someone Else’s Conflict, a ‘sensitive and compassionate thriller’ set in the Yorkshire Dales with a backstory in the Croatian conflict of the early 1990s, was published in November 2014 and was featured as a Debut of the Month on the Lovereading website in January 2015.

Writer Superpowers
I am available to write blog posts or articles and to give talks – myself or as part of a panel or group – in the media, at festivals and events, bookshops, libraries, book clubs and other groups about writing, my novel, my inspirations (which range from the storytelling tradition to Balkan history, language and culture), and anything language-related, such as a comparison between writing and translating literature. I am also happy to do any of the above in Welsh – croesawaf unrhyw ymholiadau yn y Gymraeg.
