About: After the birth of my third child, 16 years ago, I left my job as a Commissioning Editor in academic publishing (criminology). Passionate about fiction, I asked a leading literary agency if I could read their slush pile. And on that slush pile I found a novel that went on to win the Whitbread First Novel Award and the Richard & Judy Summer Reads of Summer Reads. I was in the right place at the right time.
From then on I was asked to read and edit novels for several publishers and agents and I have never looked back as an editor, working now in a freelance capacity mostly for Bloomsbury and Orion.
In addition, I have also, in the prime of my life, become a Ghostwriter and while I am not allowed to say whom I have ghosted, I am published by Penguin and Orion and others (can’t even disclose publishers in some cases) and now divide my work between writing and editing. I have ghosted six books, all memoir.
