Biography:

Kerry Hadley-Pryce was born in Wordsley, in the heart of the Black Country. She likes coffee, real ale, running, canals and Hammer Horror. She remembers writing her first very short story, called ‘The Dark Night’, aged seven, about a long car journey throughout the night. Her father still has a copy of it somewhere. After working in a variety of different jobs, including being an attendant at a petrol station, a secretary and a salesperson at the local newspaper, she studied degrees in English Language and Psychology at university, and became a secondary school teacher, teaching English and creative writing in the south west for a few years before returning to her native Midlands. After dabbling in self-publishing, she completed an MA in Creative Writing in 2014 at Manchester Metropolitan University, for which she gained a Distinction, and during which she self-published an anthology of short fictions and wrote her novel, ‘The Black Country’. She was awarded The Michael Schmidt Prize 2013-2014 for outstanding achievement in her MA and she is currently working on her next novel, ‘Broken Dolls’ also set in her hometown.
